Understanding 11B Infantry Physical Demands

The infantryman's operational environment demands high anaerobic capacity, robust spinal stability, and relentless cardiovascular endurance. An 11B must routinely carry combat fighting loads exceeding 70 pounds, sprint between cover under hostile fire, drag wounded personnel to safety, and breach fortified obstacles without degraded lethality.

11B Recommended AFT Event Targets

  • 3-Rep Max Deadlift: 280–340 lbs (85–100 pts) — Simulates extracting trapped crew members and lifting heavy mortar baseplates.
  • Hand-Release Push-Up: 40–50 reps (75–90 pts) — Ensures upper-body pressing stamina during prone obstacle bounding.
  • Sprint-Drag-Carry: Sub-1:45 (85–100 pts) — The definitive simulation of casualty evacuation (90-lb sled) and ammunition resupply (80-lb kettlebells).
  • Forearm Plank: 2:45–3:40 (75–100 pts) — Establishes the anterior core integrity required to support heavy body armor and rucksacks.
  • Two-Mile Run: Sub-15:30 (80–100 pts) — Provides the base aerobic engine to recover quickly between anaerobic firefight spikes.
