Event 4 of 5Core Isometric Endurance

Forearm Plank (PLK)

The Plank evaluates core strength and trunk stability. It measures the abdominal and spinal endurance necessary to sustain heavy rucksack loads and stabilize the body during tactical maneuvers.

Proper Execution & Grader Standards

Soldiers assume a modified prone position with forearms on the ground, elbows bent 90 degrees aligned directly under shoulders, fists clenched or flat on the ground.

Form Requirements for a Valid Hold:

  • Body Alignment: Head, shoulders, hips, knees, and ankles must form a continuous straight plane.
  • Foot Placement: Feet may be together or up to shoulder-width apart (soles perpendicular to ground).
  • Hands & Arms: Forearms remain parallel; hands may not interlock or touch each other.
  • Termination Criteria: The grader will give up to one form warning. A second warning or any knee/hip touching the ground terminates the timer.
